Wilden Improves Design of 1" Pump
Wilden is excited to announce the release of the new 1” Original™ Series metal pump. This pump will provide a compact and economical alternative to the 1” Advanced™ Series metal pump and is ideal for OEM applications. The new design features bolted manifolds and clamped liquid chambers similar to the top-selling 1/2” pump model. Increased product containment and easier maintenance are key engineered features included in the design of this new wetted path. This Original Series metal pump comes equipped with the Pro-Flo® Air Distribution System (ADS) for maximum reliability. The pump is available with an aluminum wetted path and the same elastomer options as existing 1” models.
This pump is also an ideal replacement for the 45-degree angled construction of previous Original Series pumps. The threaded 1” horizontal inlet fluid connection and 3/4” horizontal discharge fluid connection match the previous 1” Original Series metal pumps. The footprint and envelope are also the same.
Polymer Handling in Water Treatment 
A major concern at water and wastewater treatment facilities is identifying the most effective and efficient way to deal with and dispose of solid particles and materials that are found in the liquid stream The most effective means of achieving this sludge-creating process is through the use of polyelectrolytes, or polymers, that consist of longchain organic molecules. These polymers have the ability to attract and absorb suspended solid particles, making them easier to remove from the water that is being treated. Activated polymer molecules can perform this crucial task because they have charged sites that attract suspended solids of opposite charge.
Although their higher molecular weight makes them effective for this process, polymers
can be difficult to mix and feed into the treatment process.

OSHA Combustible Dust National Emphasis Program
A review of over 200 dust explosion incidents by the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) resulted in their November 2006 call for a “national regulatory standard for combustible dust hazards” in the United States.
On Oct 18, 2007, OSHA published the “Combustible Dust National Emphasis Program” (NEP); document CPL 03-00-006 issued by the Directorate of Enforcement Programs. It describes their policies and procedures regarding inspection of facilities that handle combustible dust as well as their expectations regarding owner / operator compliance with US Safety Standards. Plas-Tanks is RTP-1 Certified 
Plas-Tanks Industries, Inc., a Cincinnati area company, received the prestigious “Certificate of Authorization” and corresponding code stamp from ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) to produce fiber reinforced plastic vessels in accordance with the ASME code procedures. There are only a few companies, world wide, who now have this honor, which requires certification of laminators and bonders by nationally accredited testing laboratories, plus production and destructive testing of a demonstration vessel. Fabrication to the RTP-1 Standard is widely considered to be the highest level of quality, which provides a level of assurance to the customer that their vessels have been fabricated and inspected under controls surpassing the general industry ASTM standards.
